Silverhill, Alabama

A Good Place to Live with a Vision for the Future

The Town of Silverhill, Alabama, is a friendly, vibrant and historic community situated at the intersections of major highways in Central Baldwin County.

Silverhill was founded in 1896 by Oscar Johnson, an immigrant from Sweden, as part of the Svea Land Company of Chicago, Ill.

Over the coming decades, Swede and Czech settlers traveled from across the country to Silverhill for its farming opportunities.

The town stays connected to its deep roots while looking to future development, retaining a legacy of hospitality and community.

Silverhill has a population of about 1,000 residents and is quickly growing with the region as it preserves its history. The People’s Supply Store built in 1902, is now United Bank. Silverhill’s first schoolhouse built in 1898, is now the Town Library. Throughout the years, Silverhill has maintained its small-town charm, remaining a “Good Place to Live.”
